School History

Our History

In August of 1995, Wesley Academy opened its doors, fulfilling a vision of First United Methodist Church of Houston and Dr. William Hinson, its pastor. The vision for the school was that Wesley would welcome students from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.

The school began with a Kindergarten and First Grade class, which met in the Stansbury Building on the First Methodist Houston Westchase campus. Each year, a grade level was added, and the first eighth grade class graduated in 2003. Wesley Academy now educates students from six months old through eighth grade.  Wesley has become a viable academic institution which welcomes children of all economic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.
