DOOR DECORATING CONTEST
Wesley Academy Prepares for Book Fair
With a Spirited Door Decorating Contest
In conjunction with this year’s Book Fair theme, Destination: Book Fair, Read Around the World, Wesley students embarked on a spirited door decorating contest. Each class chose a country or city and a favorite book related to that country or city then used their imaginations and knowledge of the chosen book to decorate their classroom doors. Doors were judged on originality, creativity, attention to detail, and student involvement. Ms. Anita’s second grade glass was the winner of the elementary division with their depiction of Pippi Longstocking Goes to School representing the country of Sweden. Ms. Gardner’s seventh grade and Mrs. Hatcher’s eighth grade science class tied in the middle school division. The seventh grade students selected the country Mexico and the book, The Pearl, as their inspiration. Ms. Hatcher’s class choose Germany and the Grimm’s Fairy Tale, Rapunzel, creatively displaying the favorite line of the book, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your favorite books”. The winning classes will be treated to an ice cream party after the Book Fair!
